Somber Times

love one another nebulainbloom blog
Hello!
So last week was SXSW in this great city that I live in. The entire city was taken over by hoards of people. That's seriously not an exaggeration. There were thousands upon thousands of people in Austin last week. In case you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about it's a music festival. It goes on for pretty much an entire week and causes chaos in the city.
Bob and I both took days off of work to go and partake in the madness. Unfortunately it just wasn't for us. After a day and a half of walking around for miles we said forget it.
I don't know how I'm going to sound to some of you when I say that we go to too many shows on a weekly basis that it just wasn't enjoyable to us. I'm not trying to sound like a music snob.
There were just wayyyyyy too many people.
I'm not down for waiting to see an act play for three hours because i'm scared I won't get in otherwise.
Downtown was just insane. It did a number to the city.
It was completely trashed. This made me super sad.
On top of all the craziness there was a horrible tragedy.
I don't know if you've heard but a drunken idiot drove the wrong way down a one way,  then through a barricade, killing three people and injuring something like 23.
The scariest thing about the whole thing was that we were THERE. At the venue everything happened in front of no more than 15 minutes before the whole ordeal.
I got the worst feeling of the hebejeebeez when I found out about the accident. We had been taking the bus downtown because who wants to drive and then pay $40 for a parking spot? Not us, that's for sure.
I sat down on the bus, refreshed twitter, and saw the news.
I could not stop hitting refresh to see what someone else on my feed would say.
Thankfully no one i know got hurt but so many others did.
It's insane to me to think that this would happen so close to home. At home, really.
I don't know. It was an one off accident but that doesn't stop the bad taste in my mouth from the whole thing.
Just wanted to write my thoughts about the whole topic. It's been a week and every time I think about it, it makes me feel really uneasy. It could've been me.
Makes you put everyone you love into perspective.
Hug that person next to you. Make sure you don't take them for granted.

With all my love,
Pati

Anniversary with the OSO

nebula in bloom anniversary nebula in bloom anniversary
Hello Gals!
Thought I'd pop into the blog today and post about someone that means a lot to me. The boy! Yesterday was our two year anniversary. I know it's not very long but, no joke, these have been the best two years in a very long time. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is forever.
I'm done looking and happy about it.
He compliments me so well. We support each other in everything and at the end of the day that's what it should be about.
Our relationship is far from perfect. I'm not very patient and neither is he but we find a way to make it work. I've grown so much as a person in these last two years and I have him to thank for that. He makes me a better person. Period.
This past weekend we went up to Austin to celebrate with a beer anniversary event and a good show. That's just my life now and I LOVE IT! I've looked for years for someone who is happy going to shows, random events around town, or just sit and veg. Bob is it. We talked a lot this weekend about what the future holds for us. A lot of our friends are moving away and starting new. It's about that time for us.. He's finally on board. I've been applying for jobs out of town for months but he finally said he would delve head first into it. I'm beyond ecstatic. This was becoming a huge stress thinking about his work situation. Things can only get better from here on out.
I could go on and on but I'll spare you ladies.. Here's to the next twenty years with this amazing man by my side.

With All My Love,

Pati

Ps: How was YOUR weekend?
Pps: These pictures are perfectly us! silly and in love.

Meow

Hey guys!
I wanted to dedicate this blog to my first animal loves.. my cats.
As much as I love my dog now I cannot fathom having a life without cats. It really is two different kinds of love. They cannot be pitted against each other.
My cats are so awesome.

My VERY first pet ever was Willow!
She will forever be my shhh.. secret favorite. She's only super friendly to me. Probably why she's so special to me. She tolerates everyone else in the household and I'm
pretty sure it's just because she gets under the chin rubs.
She's not super active but would rather lay around and scope out everything happening in the house.
I'm pretty sure she thinks that Abigail, the dog, is completely insane. They pick on
each other all the time but nothing more than playful (that's what I think) fighting.

I always wanted her to have another cat to play with and of course was hooked on cats after her.
So I got her Ali, a year later.
Willow HATED Ali at first.. I thought it would never work out. I gave it a couple of days with them being separated before I introduced more than just the scent. I left to work and thought the door was closed correctly. To my horror it wasn't. It was however the best thing that could've
happened. They were playing together when I got home!
I was one happy mommy for sure.

Miss Ali cannot be anymore different than Willow if she tried.
She's totally playful and wants to be on top of you at all times. She's sitting on my lap while i'm typing up this post actually..
Ali loves people and wants to be around to see what we're all doing at any point through the day.
She loves to chase flies that come into the house and pounce on them until they cease to fly.
Morbid.. I know.. but hey! she's entertained. Plus who wants flies in their house anyway?!
She's also the constant climber. I bring something into the house and she's the first one on top of it. I really should buy her one of those fancy cat climbing towers. They're just oh so expensive.. boo.

These two have seriously brought endless joys and cuddles into my life. Not the last of them you'll see around these parts.

With all my love,

Pati
